Wit & Wisdom…Monologues of Ruth Draper

She’s Back!

The monologues of Ruth Draper (1884-1956), the most famous actress you never heard of, will be brought to life again on Saturday, February 16, at 7:30 pm at the Café Carpe, 18 South Water Street, Fort Atkinson

TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater is bringing its production of Wit & Wisdom: Monologues of Ruth Draper to the Café Carpe following a sold-out run at Madison’s Overture Center in October.

A solo performer long before it was cool, this production showcases Draper’s evergreen understanding of the human experience and her wicked sense of humor. Audiences will visit a class in “Greek Poise,” follow the latest trends in doctors and diets, and, in general, learn more about Draper’s characters than they know about themselves.

Wit & Wisdom features a top-notch cast of 8 Madison-based female actors; Pam Adams, Liz Light, Krystal Lonsdale, Kiki Moritsugu, Jody Reiss, Peggy Rosin, and Danielle Dresden and Donna Peckett, of TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater.

The Café Carpe, 18 South Water Street, Fort Atkinson, is one of the coolest places on the planet. It’s a family and community friendly café and bar with a listening room, all housed in a century-old brick building. Run by Bill Camplin and Kitty Welch, the Carpe offers a full-service bar, micro-brews on tap, and a select menu of awesome home-made food.

Company Foundation; the Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times; the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation; the Pleasant T.
