Ben Franklin & Baron von Steuben vs. the Paine County School Board

What would the Founding Fathers think?

Democracy is a messy business, and no one knows that better than Ben Franklin and Baron von Steuben. Find out just what these two Revolutionary War heroes have to say about contemporary controversies in Ben Franklin & Baron von Steuben vs. the Paine County School Board, the latest play from TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater, in a special performance for Edgewood College students, faculty, staff, and the greater community.

In Ben Franklin & Baron von Steuben vs. the Paine County School Board, a high school instructor teaches that Baron von Steuben, the Revolutionary War hero, was gay… Conservative School Board members plot changes in district policies… And conflict erupts.

The stakes are high for everyone in this play, which addresses today’s hottest issues, including education, diversity, and the need to communicate in the face of differences. Ben Franklin and Baron von Steuben feel compelled to step in to set the record straight, so to speak. While they enjoy capering about in contemporary America, ultimately they draw upon their personal experience to help contemporary characters find a better way.
